So Far So Good is the first offering from Melbourne based, Perth raised multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Alex Elbery’s forthcoming debut album. A folk song at it’s core, So Far So Good’s more tender moments evoke a melancholic comedy of lost love, time passed and perspective gained; while moving you towards a carefree crescendo of reckless abandon that gently plateaus into a sweet, vulnerable and honest closing verse. Utilizing Elbery’s signature blend of free-flowing emotion, off beat humour and narrative prowess; along with the production of Jon Grace which captures lightning in a bottle, carbonates it and hands it to you with a straw.
lyrics
Well all she ever wanted was a place to call her home
now she's tied up in this tale of blood flesh and bone
sometimes we get so far away that there’s no going home
I just wish I could offer her something now
so far so good
so far so good
Would that I could but I just can't so knock on wood I guess
so far, so
we always held such different points of view and looking back now I guess it's just something we were going through
we’d fight and we’d fight
it's like we always knew
that looking back someday it would be funny to us now
so far so good
so far so good
Would that I could but I just can't so knock on wood I guess
so far so
we spend our whole lives trying not to be afraid
of the day the dust of this planet blows away
I used to be a handsome bastard
now I'm just a bastard but hey
with all of this commotion it feels like the ocean floor
and I am feeling emotions I couldn't say much more
6000 languages spoken here in the world and not a single word for just how I love you girl
so far so good
so far so good
Would that I could but I just can't so knock on wood I guess
so far so
